@Robo: But some pants will remain baggy no matter how much you cut off the pants. To get a feel of why petite clothes are better if you're short, read Allison Izu Song's interview.

@SkipToMyLou: That's probably true. boyfriend lives in a condo near a major highway. His unit, which is a 1 bedroom just under 600 sq ft was listed at $178K when he bought it two years ago. He got it down to around $175K. Townhouses in that neighbourhood are twice that.

@ClockOnTheStove: Yeah, but can the tailor change the knee break, waist-to-hip ratio, rise, etc without charging you an arm and a leg?

Zara is good when you can find things that fit. However, most are on the big side and too long. I have yet to find a continental European chain that actually makes petites. It seems that petite lines exist in English-speaking countries only.

@hello.kitty: You should tell your aunt that having pouty lips means you don't have to use lipliner.

@screwtapeletters: I'd argue that standards are higher in Asia than it is in the west. Women in China use over 20-something beauty products a day. Also, many jobs are really lookist...they actually ask that people be a certain size...and we aren't talking about models who serve/sell. We're talking about office

@erinna: Really small girls get their clothes by:

Re the Vietnamese brides: I read an article in Marie Claire a few years ago about that. The girl married a Taiwanese guy who was short (5'3") and chubby. He was in no means "wealthy" by Taiwanese or North American standards - he was a high school teacher in a small town - but I can sort of understand why these girls

@jakesprincess: Yeah, but you gotta pay duty. The trench seen in image #3 is $273.65 Canadian and you have to add $46-something in tariffs. Then there's shipping/handling and tax. Probably going to be paying close to $400.

We had uniforms that came from a uniform supplier. However, that was for the clothes. The shoes could be any brand you wanted, as long as they were black, lace-up oxfords. Bags could be from whatever brand as well. I guess that's where the kids could be criticized....the wrong bag or shoes = not cool.

See, that's why some stores have a no guys beyond the entrance of the fitting room policy.

Well, the ACTOR Brad Pitt is technically Will(iam) Pitt. He just uses his middle name.

RE Anne: Isn't there another Anne musical, besides the one played in PEI and Anne and Gilbert?

OMG...I can't believe there aren't any posts on how many non-European cultures have historically had a light=better/wealthy/non-peasant belief yet (unless I've missed something)....I'd guess that even if Europeans didn't colonize parts of Asia, such as India and China would still prize lighter skin.

@PilgrimSoul: Clooney's over 40 and Jude's become a little slimy as of late. I saw him at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and while I kind of gushed when he was on stage, he still isn't as good looking as he was in, say Ripley. I know....I'm totally picky...

@PilgrimSoul: Re Cate Blanchette - There are plenty more women who are talented and groomed than men. I think down the road, many of today's male icons are going to be forgotten. Especially men under 40.

@PilgrimSoul: Yeah, but compared to today's actors? Much better, IMHO....today's guys, IMHO, mostly look like they need to bathe...and shave. Sorry, not into hipsters.

Very sad about the Paul Newman news. No actor today is even close to as talented or as good looking as he was in his prime.

@PetiteGal: Wait, it isn't Hong Kong...it's Tokyo.
