Still can’t believe Bohemian Rhapsody was nominated. It was a (barely) glorified standard issue VH1 Behind the Music. Best actor, maybe, but everything else was average at best. It contains a 4th wall breaking Wayne’s World joke, ffs.

Oh I so tire of the drubbing How Green Was My Valley gets, for having the temerity to receive the Academy’s recognition over Citizen Kane.  I can’t even compare the films, because they are so different, but Valley is a marvelous film in its own right, one of John Ford’s very best, and ought to be regarded on its own…

Return of the King is easily the weakest of the trilogy as well, but I always interpreted that win as the acknowledgement of the collective achievement and cultural impact of all three films.

That is one of the few times that the Oscars recognized anything that is even horror-adjacent.  And while it would be great for them to set a precedent and give an animated film best picture (with giving an actual comedy best picture seemingly the final frontier), I can’t be mad at them for this one, or for rewarding…

This guy also decided to take his payout as salary so he could be taxed more to help Iceland.

At this point I’m pretty sure he’s literally getting off on being a blatant asshole. See his tweet agreeing with the Fucker Carlson gaslighting version of the Jan. 6th insurrection.

Moreover, he didn’t say he apologized for being an asshole. He apologizes that other people mislead him. So not his fault!!

It’s great to learn things, it’s just pathetic that this is something someone in Musk’s position still needs to learn.

Yeah, that apology rings hollow from that man-child. Most likely, he saw what the payout would be to fire the guy (as they would still owe what is due him for the sale of his company) and decided it was just cheaper in the short term to keep him on then to pay out what is owed him.

I don’t see any apology for Elon’s assholery, just an apology for being wrong about the guys employment status. So not really an apology at all. Fuck Elon.
