Thanks. I’m looking at a 2014 plus with the really cool panoramic roof, heated/cooled seats (?!), etc for $13k with 17k miles. I think I can talk them down slightly given that it is the awful Alien Green color and it’s been sitting on the lot for a while. I’m sure they paid like $10.5k on the trade-in.

Believe you me, I’ve been trying to find a Taurus X but they’re all over 175k miles around me. It’s more that that vehicle existed for 2 years (5 if you count the Freestyle) and apparently the market didn’t demand it so much.

Thanks for your impressions. I have several friends with Subarus (I live in Subaru country) and the older reliability issues (head gaskets) means I’m a bit afraid of them. Plus they have a (ridiculously) high resale (I’m only looking used). Plus they have AWD, which I don’t really need.

This is great info, thanks. I’m 6'2" and was also looking at a Ford Transit Connect which seem great but they are also $6-8k more than the Soul’s I’m seeing. Similar ground clearance and car-like driving, just that the FTC is much bigger. I’m also not sure how often I’d realistically sleep in the car.

I think the problem for me is that the wagons available used (should have specified) are BMW (everything), Audi (everything), and Subarus (head gaskets, timing belts) and all are atrocious for reliability (except for modern Subarus, but those cost 2x what the Soul goes for). Plus, I don’t really want/need AWD…

I’ve been looking at a Kia Soul for a camping wagon and god, I wish it were just like 2 feet longer. The downside to this and the Acura TSX wagon is they are low to the ground (which is fine for most things, but not for camping).
