I get what you’re saying, to the employee it doesn’t matter because they are out of a job. However, at least in America, there is a huge legal difference between termination of employment and non-renewal of employment. Termination is far more actionable.

Language’s only purpose is to convey an idea or information, to communicate. If you hear the idiom “chomping at the bit” and understand this means one is excited for something, you have communicated effectively

I regularly see semi trucks doing this maneuver in lane closures due to accidents. I have stopped doing it because I did it in DC and a dude tried to sideswipe me in his Chevy, yelled at me, continued to threaten to hit me, and followed me almost to my office. It wasn’t worth the aggravation.
