The Viper forums are rife with angst about the Hellcat's horsepower and the Corvette's automatic transmission availability. Lost in all of this is the fact that the Viper is very, very fast and much more exciting to drive (in my opinion) than anything else in this space. No, it's not the spec-sheet leader that it used

I'm an exec for an auto supplier, have bought a lot of Chryslers over the years and, yes, I've had a TIPM failure (2012MY LX). And, while Chrysler is ultimately responsible, it's worthwhile to note that TIPMs are single-sourced from Continental...

Of all the things to focus on...

The "looks way cooler" is a matter of opinion, and I would rather have one "good" car - something that turns, stops and the options work, than a 70's E-body. I've had several, and their not all they're cracked-up to be.

If you mean 1100 pounds better, then maybe. I'll be keeping my Viper and 2012 Challenger, thanks. Horsepower alone doesn't mean a car is good. It's a cool number, but then so is 5.2/1...the weight-to-HP of the Viper, v.s. 6.3/1 for the Hellcat LX twins.

I (partly) wrenched my way through college and, if I had trouble finding an intermittent problem, would do this on occasion - with the permission, and only with the permission, of the customer.

Too tall and too heavy. Most of the other Viper owners I know can't utilize the full capabilities of the car as it is, so what's the point?

Dodge/SRT. I have a Challenger and a Viper and, besides the the "SRT Driver's Experience", they send us little tidbits almost every month: posters, flags, plaques...and a very, very cool book on the fifth-gen Viper:

"We" are not wholly to "blame" for the trend away from traditional manual transmissions. Engine controller calibration for TMT applications is much more difficult, as operator-induced transients (shifts) are much harder to anticipate, the net effect of which is that spark/fuel maps are less accurate and cost more to

I'm a Gen-5 Viper owner (2014 GTS), have driven 2014 Stingrays and had a few minutes behind the wheel of a 2015 Z06 mule (it's good to be based in Detroit), and I'll keep my Viper. The non-Z06 isn't as engaging, just isn't as much fun to drive and, if the mule I drove was any indication, I don't see the Z06 being much

So much douche-baggery...afraid to corner, afraid to brake, harassing civilians. Jetting away from a 3:00 AM street-race in an industrial park is one thing...scarring soccer-moms is another.

Excellent comment. The entire "I don't get XXXX" is just a passive-aggressive "I don't like XXXX and you shouldn't either". Just be honest with your criticism, and be prepare for a lot of to not give a shit...

I am the North American sales manager for a supplier. I wanted to buy one, but only a handful of Metro Detroit dealers have them, and none of them seem to want to sell them for sticker. I spoke to a couple of my Chrysler contacts about this, but Chrysler can't compel them to sell at sticker, or any other price. It's

Most OEMs have been performing some manner of automated fuel/spark calibration, starting in the modelling phase and continuing to actual dynometer feedback-based systems, for over fifteen years. Keep in mind that their are a number of other systems that have to be tuned, including mounts, exhaust, cooling and the
