God, I love jelly bellys. I love going to the mall candy store where they have bulk bins with just one flavor in each bin and making a mix bag with all the flavors that aren't usually jelly bean flavors. Buttered popcorn. Carrot cake. Vanilla bean. Juicy pear. Chocolate banana. Oh, I need to stop.

One problem that comes to mind — ABC tried twice to develop a talk show around her and both did so badly they didn't go on the air (despite the head of ABC daytime desperately wanting to find a reason to kill some of its soaps). Anyone know what went wrong with those efforts? Are they differences that would make a

Yes, and some of us like hearing a slur used in a context that humorously declares it something a fool would say. Sometimes there's catharsis in the ironic joke especially when it's a term that has been used to make you feel bad. Even outside the context of the segment the joke is that you're fucking stupider than

Holy fuck that is one racist and offensive Facebook comment.

Thing is, I'd think that if you're an anti-racism activist you'd know that somebody seriously recently tried to excuse his racism with a foundation that used a racial slur in its name.

Cosigned. My husband who actually has run in terror from a group threatening violence to him while screaming "Ching-chong! Ching-chong!" would also co-sign if things like this didn't keep him off of social media.

I saw those tweets in earlier articles and they just invoked my sense of Asian shame at people unable to do basic research and generally coming off as the "scream first, do research later" types. Looking again at them, I see nothing in them that show an understanding of the context or the difference in the segment and

Yeah, the twitter account probably exists under the "cheap show promotion" idea but I'd like to think they'd learn that this calls for someone at a higher pay grade — and pay them appropriately.

I think some of the jokes on TCR hasn't been "You can tell this man is stupid because he said something transphobic!" but there have been a lot of jokes have been "Ew, transwomen!"

There's nothing transphobic in the tweet, IMO, but Colbert has been criticized for transphobic humor. (Humor I haven't noticed since his interview with Janet Mock so maybe she did some educating before the interview.)

I'm feeling a deep case of Asian shame over the inability of people to take a moment to do basic research.

True but since this is a Comedy Central account, it's probably run by an intern skimming tape of the show for something to repeat while trying to fill their other unpaid duties. The lesson here is probably that satire is tricky even when you're just quoting a master satirist.

I just think it should be a wake-up call if Michelle Malkin joins your complaint about racism directed against Asian-Americans.

On a related tangent, my husband's final straw with Torchwood came during the "Captain Jack Harkness" episode where Jack and Tosh find themselves in the WWII era and Tosh angrily corrects a couple of racists who called her Chinese.

Yeah, that book was the equivalent of a Latin-American of Mexican descent writing a screed about Americans with Colombian ancestors. It's racist but its not "self-hating" as many have referred to it.

Sadly, there's a similar dynamic in how gay men tend to look at gay porn performers, especially if you express concern for the safety for performers who don't use condoms.

Here's one thing I'd like to know, do guys like this think that health complications that can be mitigated with hormonal birth control are just an excuse to take slut pills? (Like John McCain using airquotes when talking about abortion exemptions for the health of the woman.)

I really like the UK model of shorter 6-13 episode seasons. With a shorter season every episode matters because there isn't room for filler.

That's what we thought too. We even have a friend who loved her Bosch dishwasher who gave us a recommendation (even better she's the type who refuses to pre-wash, so the recommendation has extra weight). We actually miss our old dishwasher which only had a problem with the heating unit (it would take forever to wash

Oh, definitely. I think a good remake has to be made adjusting for the idea that the iconic horror scene isn't going to be the remake's shock. At the least, you need to use those moments to give the show a creepy sense of inevitability that often fuels J-horror. You hope things might turn out differently, no matter
