Yeah, pretty much positioned between Hillman and Humber.

Really interesting article. However.....

The Corolla saw Group A service with the BTCC back in the late 80s as does the current Corolla in Next Gen Touring Car spec.

Now, I prefer the previous generation Escape as to my British eyes, it had a nice American look to it with that big chunky truck-like grille. The new car is a bit, how can I put it, ugly and soft, like a lot of the Euro Fords such as the Poo-ma.

The Corolla is actually really nice to drive. I’m moving from VW to Toyota with a GR Sport Touring to replace my Mk7.5 Golf estate. The new Mk8 Golf just doesn't do it for me so thought I'd look elsewhere. I went to Toyota with the preconceptions they're for old people but the Corolla felt as good as the Golf and such

I’m glad you put the Corolla on the non ugly list as I’ve just ordered a GR Sport Touring hybrid.

Absolutely. Modern sports saloons.

I can live with it being an MG because the bland Chinese brand means nothing to us in the UK anymore. However, why badge it the ZS? This was the real ZS. The best of the MG Zed cars and a proper V6 powered drivers tool at that.

Worth a search on YT as there are tests like some you mention. I've seen videos of cars rear ending trucks to test the crash bars fitted to the trailers etc....

Well it's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits.....

I’m confused. What’s the difference between this and the already available T-Cross? VW trying to squeeze yet another CUV into the market?

I would say a standard JCB Fastrac would do it faster. Way back in 2006, we used to drag race a pair of ours across the dispersal in Iraq (until they were taken off us after we kept breaking them.....) and easily topped out at 45mph.

People are saying about the side bars affecting the break over angle on the longer US trailers, but in the UK we have introduced extra long semis with an extra independent axle at the rear (normally a steering one) allowing the bars still to be fitted and a break over angle to be maintained. And most bars on UK artics

What? Like the Mondeo.....?

My friend is building a belly tanker from a French Mirage wing tank with Beetle running gear. A great little project and it should be pretty rapid when finished.

As much as I love the content, not a fan of it being a rehash guys.....

I like it. Kind of reminds me of that other Defender knock off, the Santana.

Yeah, tell me about it. I’m ex-RAF myself and it boils my piss reading the miss reporting of this story. Every news outlet in the UK, even Forces News, is sensationalising it as a £900k paint job......

The BTCC was nowhere near being a minor series. In the 80s, 90s and early 2000s it was one of the most popular racing series going, drawing in audiences of millions. Not bad for a national series. It even went world wide with races held in Europe and cars sent to race at Bathurst. In recent years it’s taken a dive as

Don’t listen to the Guardian or other leftie media looking to wind up the general public. The paint job alone did not cost 900K. The aircraft was already scheduled in for a major service which includes strip, inspection, rectification, modifications/upgrades and a repaint. Exactly the same as any aircraft in any
