this louie bit where he’s out with his daughters and he has to urgently shit

They may attract a small number of “chill girls” who ignore the pain of their souls dying as they repeat their mantra of “I’m not like other girls, I can take a joke” to anyone who they think will be impressed by a girl shitting on other women. I guess.

THE PRETEND YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND THING GALLS ME TO NO END.

This is a massive over-share, in my opinion. Why does the world need to know this level of detail about why you fired your nanny? This has a my-husband-is-hot-and-would-never-cheat-on-me-let-me-show-the-world-proof vibe.

This is like putting “Nazi Soldiers’ Remembrance Day” the day after Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Also, if your religion prohibits you from interacting with literally half the people on the planet, your religion probably sucks.

In regards to “dress how you want to be addressed”:

I appreciate your willingness to write a story that reflects deep ambivalence.

I appreciate your willingness to write a story that reflects deep ambivalence. I think there isn’t enough of that anymore (everything is always strident and polarized) but you did a great job sitting with the murkiness of what this all means about Bowie’s legacy.

Oh! ...oh. Spitzer, why must you disappoint me so? He did such good work trying to tackle Wall Street corruption, but then had to go and be a complete arse. I thought you’d learnt your lesson, but no.

I feel like this should be republished under author, Blake Lively, with Jane Seymour as the ghost writer.

Are you kidding? The first one cost $40M to make, but grossed $570M in theaters, and over $50M in DVD sales. And god knows how much via On Demand rentals.

My problem with the entire discussion is that everyone is so damned black and white about it. “Sex-positive” feminists tend to insist that all porn is great and anyone who disagrees is a sex-hating prude. Anti-porn feminists tend to insist that porn is ipso facto bad and anyone who disagrees is oppressing women. And

amen

There are many complicated things about the tax code, but the fact that regular people don’t understand marginal tax rates is a combination of stats not being a normal high school subject (because of course we all use Algebra II on a daily basis, don’t you know) and certain candidates being intentionally misleading

Either you don’t understand the point or you’re bad at math. You’re correct that every additional dollar earned is taxed at your marginal tax rate, which in the example was at the 25% bracket. So you’re saying someone should not start a new business because they will have to pay taxes? You still get to keep .75 cents

“Hello ladies, you’re looking lovely this evening. Maybe we should all go back to my room...have you ever heard of Settlers of Catan?”

Increasingly unlikeable zillionaires starring in and directing a billion dollar movie financed by the motion picture industry, which is only a little less repellent than the military industry, about the working class being squeezed by the unethical efforts of the One Percent.
