It is not a new thing. There were always guys that did this, but this whole dating culture really didn’t happen way way back in the last century so you didn’t pick up stalkers that way. When you met someone you married them and then that was it, if you divorced, they got the kids, house, etc. and you were out of luck.

Well, we get our upbringing from popular culture nowadays and popular culture tells us there are two kinds of women: Those that love you at first sight and those that eventually give in to your love after repeated creepy, obsessive behaviour and coercion.

Except we know that there is an extremely high rate of sex-based violence for women. 1 in 4 women experiences sexual assault and 2 out of 3 female homicide victims were killed by a partner or family member. There is also great social pressure on women to accept and ignore threatening behavior from partners, and great

It’s astonishing to me that men decide they’re going to be in an abusive relationship with a woman WHOM THEY’RE NOT EVEN IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH. How do their minds even work? “I saw her one time/went out with her once/had sex with her a couple times, and that means I get to abuse the shit out of her for years! She

I think the ratio of men who would do this stuff if they thought they could get away with it and men who wouldn’t ever do it is about 1:1

Paranoid means “irrational”. This is an smaller-percentage-risk issue that is both plausible and rational. That it does not ALWAYS happen does not make being concerned about it “irrational”.

I mean, it’s “sad” if you think happiness and life fulfillment only comes from being romantically involved with someone. Which if you have decided that must be true for everyone, then I think your narrow view is sad.

Honestly I don’t think there is either. What’s the first thing you tend to hear from the friends and family of a killer, ie the people who know him/her best - oh s/he was the last person you would ever think would do something like this...

Women are murdered every day in this country because they are....women. The “urgency” is not just the literal life and death situations that women find themselves in due to misogyny; the everyday struggle of women in this country to survive on sub-par wages and with patriarchal constraints that keep them from having a

How in the world do you “vet” somebody you don’t really know to determine whether they will end up as a potential murderer years down the road? I’m going to go out on a limb and guess this was this guy’s first foray into murder.

yeah that doesnt make it okay. it’s on the adult to turn down the child.

Leo is gonna win b/c there’s no other frontrunner. He IS the frontrunner.

Most people don’t even know Fruitvalle Station. They think Creed is good because it’s funny, it has heart, and looks and sounds great. It’s also nice to see a movie where the previous star willingly takes a backseat to his replacement.

I was hoping to see more momentum for The Big Short. I really enjoyed it, it was well-written and acted, and it felt original. It definitely at least should have won the globe for best comedy over The Martian (which absolutely shouldn’t have been in that category).

This season was excellent, maybe even better than season 1. I really wanted it to win and I was SHOCKED that Kirsten Dunst lost.

It was decent. I thought Brie Larson was good. The movie so-so.

In the spirit of Mr. Robot, you should torrent (or stream on stream-tv.ag or watchepisodes.tv) Mr. Robot. It’s the only way Mr. Robot would want you to see it.

Nothing for Fargo?

Guys - I cried when Stallone won. He deserved it. “Creed” is so good! And he is such a good actor!

Nothing Matt Damon has done this year lends itself to easy punchlines.
