So something that uses a large amount of energy to cause propulsion? That's a jetpack and suits the purpose of a n-jump (n = (# >=1) ). The physics behind the scenario allow for someone to double jump, though they will most likely die. Jetpacks or simply flying are a much easier solution to whole the dilemma.

Was the criteria that you have to survive? I am just saying that the physics behind it all allow for rocket jumps to happen. You probably would die, but you would double jump.

I think this could easily be solved by asking the wonderful minds at "askamathematician.com", but that's the easy way out.

Why wouldn't a rocket jump work? It would probably be most effective to do it before you start falling, but if the force from the ignition/detonation is large enough then you should be propelled upwards(assuming you point the rocket downwards).
