I'm in the same boat... But for me, it's more about them being automatics. Hearing the engine constantly at full tilt isn't as exciting as hearing the revs build or a good downshift. It just doesn't seem all that difficult.

There's a reason the neck isn't armored up on riders. Neck mobility is pretty important on a bike. As Beef7up explains, the airbag jackets try to solve that problem too.
