Honestly wondered if the audience of SNL understood what was going on here.

I’m really surprised at the amount of comments talking about her being “white passing”. She definitely looks Asian to me and it would have stood out if her parents were white on the show. Reminds me of how confused I was with Kristin Kreuk on Smallville when there were no Asian family members.
I got soooooo irritated after that, I turned it off. I’m giving Blackish a break because I cannot get behind those offerings to placate the “nonracist” Trump voters, so they can feel like their voting can be validated. Fuck that.
This is why I hate reading Beyonce articles on Jezebel. How the fuck do you try to “15 minutes of fame” someone who’s been making music for 20 years? When do you move the fuck on and just stop trying to delegitimize someone’s talent/popularity? 25 years? 30?
Lol No, your point still stands, I just thought that one part was funny. I’ve always wondered what was the reasoning to end races on birth certificates. My parents have it, but we don’t. Doesn’t seem like there was a set standard about racial listing either—Negro for dad. Colored for mom.
Wow, now it’s even more interesting because we were all born in Michigan and our mom in Alabama. I used to joke that they figured having a Detroit certificate was enough of an indicator. I wonder why there’s a difference.
Me (born in ‘82), my sister (born in ‘87) have Black on our birth certificates. My son and my nephews are African-American.
Are you talking about this one?
See my reply to sharky. Could it be a complete rip off? Sure. Could it be something they got permission for? Sure. Could it be something based in Yoruba orisha religion/symbols? Perhaps. Judging by the entirety of the visuals and who is connected to the work. I haven’t dealt with Oshun in years, but that is clearly…
Here is another perspective of the visual
Probably use her first name and not her middle name.
That’s what I got out of that statement.
I agree with you about Charlamagne, I don’t think he’s actually asking for his own edification.
I still haven’t gotten over Jamie’s rape.
I need to step out of this thread before I get to typing this novel about Rue, Ororo Munroe, and the chick from Jem and the Holograms.
Lol Tell me it’s not accurate though
I saw that quote and had to stop reading. She cannot be serious. During her list of the paper bag Outlanders did she not realize what she was missing?
I knew this routine like it was my life.
I haven’t heard it personally. My first encounter with it was watching The Craft and that was weird to me because the character had curly hair, but I guess the point was the bully’s racism. I’ve seen it once or twice on comments about being black at predominately white universities. I didn’t know people actually said…
Strike’s hair is described as dark and very curly. He refers to it himself as “pube-like”
