Wow, y’all. The comments are far more vitriolic than they usually are. Thanks for the read, Bradley. Keep on writing for those of us who appreciate you.

Did anyone else notice Henry wearing that shiny spider web pin for Helena? It was glorious. Also, WHY didn’t you mention Henry’s comeback to Paul when he was accused of not making his own jam. “The CHEEK!”
This is clear Jimmy Johns erasure. The founder may be a piece of garbage, but every Jimmy Johns bathroom I have had occasion to use, thinking especially of the one next to our favorite bar in college, was pristine.
My 2008 is still humming. It’s sensible indeed, of course, the first gen had some bugs I wish I would have known about before I bought it, but still. I’d happily upgrade to a newer version in the next few years.
Love to you and your family. A heartbreaking read, but a great one.
Mine was just a 15 passenger van packed with children, as I chaperoned a trip to Holiday World. All was well, until we packed up all the kids from the 100+ degree sun, cranked the air and got on the road. It turns out that when you cool down children too quickly and put them in a moving vehicle, it can make them…
Exactly. It’s got to be a massive systemic change to change some of this, or at least drastically reduce it. That’s not to say that making choices on a small scale doesn’t also help. Do your bit and yell at the politicians and CEOs to do theirs too. (Hopefully, they’ll do 100000000x yours.)
Yes, but I do think that it’s part of a larger discussion. Our individual choices writ large would make an impact on how much meat is raised, how much plastic is produced and thrown away, how many car emissions there are, etc. And I think we should strive for these things.
I hadn’t been home for a while, my parents have been coming to visit me instead, so when I got there, my dad had made my favorite meal from childhood, which was just an egg noodle and smoked sausage casserole with cheesy bechemel sauce. It was gloopy. It was bad for me. It was freaking delicious.
I admit, this is one I’ve had on my phone for a long time. There are a lot of different merge chains, and it’s nice to play for a little while to shut down my brain. I’m about 1000 stars in, so. Yeah. It’s addictive.
I did this same thing not too long ago. I was driving my short commute into work at 8:30 on a Saturday, and the SUV in front of me was swerving from lane to lane in front of me, driving only 15 miles an hour or so. He was clearly intoxicated when I pulled up to a red light next to him, which he turned left through…
Now I want to see the drone video of the drone capturing this run. Epic.
No love for the Cosmic Brownie? Or the Frosted Honey Bun? Or the Zebra Cake? We don’t get a lot of the ones mentioned up there in the Midwest.
I need someone to tell me this every five seconds, and then every six seconds, someone to read me my bank balance. Haha.
Years ago, they produced PayDay Avalanche bars, which was the classic PayDay but with chocolate on the outside. It was made in my hometown (Home of the PayDay, Whoppers, and Heath Toffee) and they were AMAZING. A friend’s dad went to the factory and got a 25 lb box of unwrapped broken ones, and we divvied them up. I…
I had been seeing a guy for a little while, and I stayed over for the first time. I woke up to him cooking breakfast, which was really nice of him.
The heroes we need.
Heck yeah. My midwestern palate loves a ranch-spiced yogurt dressing. So many fewer calories, and I honestly can’t tell a difference.
I loved the original Good Eats, and I love The Return so far. The storytelling was unexpected, and the food science had me trying to whip 13 egg whites in our largest mixing bowl by hand at 11 years old for his angel food cake. The show is good. The food is good. Alton Brown is good, and I cannot wait to see what…
The rear doors on my 2008 Honda Fit Sport were leaking like sieves. I had to put a tarp over the whole car to keep from having two inches of water sitting in my rear footwells, and then being sure to vacuum out any excess water that might still be around from prior rains and keep a moisture absorber in the back of the…
