The high-frequency background noise that ye old cathode-ray tube TVs make when you turn them on. It became even more perceptible when the TV was muted, but that sound seeped through the walls and ceilings. I’m so, so glad those old TVs are (mostly) gone.

This. My mother was an RN, now thankfully retired. In her last few years working for a hospital caring for Alzheimer’s patients, she starting getting into alternative healthy woo. In spite of having nearly died of measles at the age of 3 and suffering from hearing loss as a result of contracting measles, she started

Three words that absolutely do not belong together:
Vegan + Chorizo + Crumbles

As a Canadian, I’m reading this story and crying/screaming/dying inside. On the one had, rehabilitation programs can be positive - like, maybe for people with minor misdemeaners like petty theft, burglary, or whatnot. Allowing someone like this who violently killed his wife to visit sex workers is so, so obviously not

Is your grandmother, by any chance, the mother of your father (I don’t assume...), because, egads, I bet she was super ‘proud’ of her son that day. Not.
I’m so sorry. I hope that she read him the riot act.

I’m so sorry. The people, whether they are family, friends, or acquaintances, who pressure others to have children are the absolute worst, most self-absorbed cretinous people whom I have ever met. Congratulations on your one miracle baby! <3

I’ll agree with you. That last statement “college doesn’t matter” is confusing.

That aside, if anyone is really interested in this topic, I highly recommend the book, “The Meritocracy Trap: How America’s Foundational Myth Feeds Inequality, Dismantles the Middle Class, and Devours the Elite”, by Daniel Markovits.

Canadian here, but working at an Ivy League University. The terms ‘college’ and ‘university’ are often (colloquially) used interchangeably in the US; whereas in Canada, the term ‘college’ usually refers to vocational post-secondary institutions and ‘university’ to more academic post-secondary institutions.

In the US

You would think that a GP would have thought to take a routine blood test every few years? They may have found other dietary deficiencies and started supplementation sooner. That the parents also have no idea what their child normally eats is rather sad. Yes, he clearly didn’t eat his healthy lunch at school, but what

From Starbucks lack of Xmas decor (or whatever that was) to Keurig, it seems like right-wingers don’t understand how to boycott things. You’re not supposed to have bought the thing in the first place. Smashing the product after you’ve purchased it doesn’t suddenly result in the money spent going *poof* from the

But did they use a female crash test dummy in designing this vehicle? If not, it’s definitely not good for any woman.

I secretly suspect that HBO released Chernobyl when it did to help GoT fans wean themselves off of the fantasy and realize that things could be much, much worse than having a favored show terminate sub-parly.

No. I did this as a child. And grew out of it, social mores and all.

The scenes with Bronn being given the crossbow to kill Jaime and Tyrion, and then finally confronting Jaime and Tyrion in Winterfell just seemed so... pointless. They could have used that time to develop Dany’s downward spiral and other threads more thoroughly.

Also, I’m trying to ween myself off of GoT by watching

And the original article to which that image was taken:

When I was 4 years old, I found a package of Buollion cubes in the fridge that my mom used for making soup broth. I thought that they looked rather similar to the sort of packages that chewing gum would come in. And, then I unwrapped one, note the brown colour, and still proceeded to pop it into my mouth. Ugh.

I’ve never heard of Red pill being associated with MRAs. I feel like the more people use that Matrix reference in a non-MRA associated way, the more that non-MRA reference will dilute the mega-douchery association of red pill with MRAs. I hope.

OBviously. But these are minimum wage jobs that barely pay enough to ensure that people can pay their bills at the end of the month. Tax evasion by the working poor is not the problem when so many rich CEOs offshore their salaries to tax havens.
I’ll keep tipping in cash.

This. The introduction of Carole Ann Boone was so vacuous, and lacking of any depth. After watching the 4 part series, I was left with so many questions with no answers that the doc failed to even address.

Agreed 1000%. I feel like the director conflated Bundy’s glib, narcissistic, and manipulative personality traits with something resembling ‘charm’. Ooookay. And seriously, do people not yet realize how subjective attraction can be. You can just say that someone is ‘attractive’ over and over again and expect everyone
