Had an older lady from another country come in in a van for a starting issue with two bald tires, wires showing. No money for tires. Three little kids, one just a baby. Put two of our house brand tire on it no cost. My boss was fine with it. Right thing to do.

Would snap that up if I were even remotely in the market for a luxury sedan. As long as there are no major issues you could conceivably even drive it for a year and sell it for a small profit.

I think that's a joke.

Well it was once anyway.

Lots of lakes in the area. If you're a bass fisherman it's worth the trip.

Thanks. The fair was a lot of fun but for a year or so afterward it was kind of like the day after a big party. A lot of “well now what “ kind of thing.

Besides, as anyone knows, the only cool denier-subculture are World’s Fair Deniers. Knoxville had one? Really? We’re supposed to believe that? Please.

grille that I just can’t place

Wish we had the option of a new Ranger or Triton here in the US.

Possibly, and I thought the same thing, but I just can’t think of anything else back there. Of course it’s been a while since I’ve been under one of these things. Or seen one running.

Different problem. Most of the time in Wranglers it’s a bad steering stabilizer. Old Cherokees did it too, but not as badly. Lifting it, if you don’t do it right, can contribute to this.

I think you’re right, but I would probably go with bad shock causing the cupped tire. Either way I think that shock and its mount are history. And the rear axle support bushing. And heck probably the back seat after all that pounding.

Depreciation is your friend. Doesn’t work with everything, e.g. trucks. Three year old trucks are still ridiculously expensive.

An old Firestone manager told me they made a ton of money off that whole thing. People brought in cars that didn’t even have Firestone tires to get checked out.

Tires were never the problem. Ford specified 26 psi to make the ride better not the 32 it should have been. Owners would then overload the tires. I still see those tires in the shop sometimes.

Supposedly BRAT was an anagram - Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain There’s no way you’d get those two plastic back seats approved today.

Good post. DIY should be a blog by itself along with Car Buying.

It’s not. But yeah it sounds like something that would go wrong on the Millenium Falcon.

That’s how we do it in the shop. It’s faster. But I can see how you wouldn’t do that in your driveway.

confusingly cramped on the interior
