Well, in this century, videos can be watched in exactly the same screens and devices as pictures, so if vertical pictures are OK, then so are videos; manufactured outrage notwithstanding.

It pretty much exists, and it's awesome: check out Triptych by Chronic Logic.

Outland, surely.

Wow; must be spinning crazy fast.

My point stands.

Maybe in a parallel universe in which the Concorde never existed.

I'm a lot more tired of indie pseudo-8-bit retro hipster bollocks than I am of first-person shooters, to be perfectly honest.

No, not really. Usually the government said "here's some ships, go explore. Plant a flag while you're at it".

Well, again, private enterprise isn't famous for worrying about the unforeseeable, foreseeable or even immediate future of our species.

Oh, FFS, let's do this again: there already exist web video players that display vertical video without any black bands, by detecting and adjusting to the portrait orientation. It's an issue with the *player*. The only different between a vertical image and a vertical video is that the video moves.

The black bars are obviously a problem with the player, not with the video. I've started to see web video players that respect portrait orientation (maybe here in Kinja, if memory serves) so it won't be a problem for long. Seriously, deal the fuck with it, don't be an angry asshole, and join the 21st Century.

Again, if it's not a problem with portrait pictures, it isn't for video either.

Just to nip the "boredom" argument in the bud: I'm sure death would still be available to those who want it even in a post-radical-longevity scenario. "Death being optional" doesn't mean "life being mandatory".

Well, there's change as in evolution, and there's change as in "running around like a chicken with its head cut off". Windows 8 is an example of the latter. I can cope with it, in the sense of enduring it, but I'm certainly not glad I upgraded.

Only people that don't use 8.1 think it's a train wreck.

IP, man.

Yes, we can. It's also a nice problem to have for a developer...

Well, it's a word relevant to the franchise; it's not like they called it "Arkham Crumpet" or "Arkham Submarine".

No, I don't think I do. Explain what you mean.

Japan always comes up with the most Gundam weird stuff.
