Yeah, I teach storyboarding too and was a professional TV boarder for years. Professionally, things kind of vary nowadays. I tend to teach very traditionally - lots of arrows, specific directions for camera and character action - but story development in animation can also rely just on the looser sketches, especially

Yep, he did...

Except that Stephen King gave Kubrick free rein to do what he would with the story. He knew that Kubrick was going to have a different interpretation of it and he was fine with that. Ultimately it makes it fun - you can read the book and watch the movie and get 2 different experiences in nightmarish terror!

Yes - you're thinking of live-action shooting boards, that have camera direction in them. These are more like story sketches for animation, but when boards like this are solid enough, they can be used for camera too.

Hodor...Hodor. HODOR!

Little Bran is growing up so fast!!!

Ooh great recommendation! Kindle, engage.

Yeah, one of the awesome Hubbard lies I've come across in 'Going Clear' (I'm only about a quarter of the way into the book) is that he 'did pioneering work in rockets.' Hm. Was THAT what he called watching his friend jerk off?

Blegh, this is coming off like a CW MOW, if such a thing exists.

Yep, it was terrible. And two very smart women co-wrote it! The whole thing smelled like too many cooks fucking around in the kitchen, IMHO.

Me too. The more times I watch that film (thank you Netflix), the more I enjoy the throwback vibe to my own childhood. Despite some of the ham-fistedness, there's a lot in there with a really soft touch.

Unless Uncle Walt's cryogenically frozen head is in there, it can't possibly be THAT rad.

I agree. Ag and horticulturalism - especially in England, I'd think - were critical to the population in the face of the Industrial Revolution. I mean, even now, if you talk to anyone who does simple gardening, the earthworm is the lynchpin and sooner or later becomes the focus of the conversation!

Yeah, I can't - can't even - ugh - ergh - blerg. There are so many rants I could go on right now that I've worked myself into speechlessness.

Nicely put! Yeah that cut scene spoke volumes, that's more what I'd like - nostalgic and evocative...

Agreed. And, you forgot: And Megan Fox is a terrible "actress" who is clearly insane.

I finally just saw Dredd and sincerely dug it. I had no clue it was going to look/feel like what it did; it reminded me of District 9 (which wasn't surprising as it was shot in Joburg) and, of course, 28 Days Later. I really felt the edgy comic book aspect and thought the female villain was sensational - much more

Put that shit on the nearest Catbus and get it out of here!!

I love that Guillermo is such a dork that he digs 'Bleak House' and 'Little Dorrit.' I can imagine him watching them in his bizarre hell-mansion with a cup of Earl Grey, squirming in delight at the Dickensian shenanigans.

+1 to you too. I have just added a bunch of Confidential screen grabs to the film lecture I'm giving later today...shazam!
