Meh, I thought it could have been way worse, although it certainly wasn't anything to write home about. Although, here I am writing on an internets about it, so I guess I'm wrong about that. Lame voiceover, generic visuals, decent heroine. Only thing I really liked: the mockingjay whistle. That was pretty cool. The

Hey-o!

I love that film. I love all his 'storytelling' films...'Dead Poets' holds a very special place in my heart; when I graduated from high school, all my friends stood up in the stands and 'yawp'ed.

I love Peter Weir. He's such a poet.

When I just screened this for my visual effects students, and talked them through all the practical magic that Doug Trumbull and his team created out of spit and moonshine, their jaws hit the floor. There is no way that another iteration of this film can approach the gritty in-camera world those guys made come true.

MMMMMMMMMMMMM

I love the cheez whiz of these movies. No offense to Rhona but it's nice to see Kate get her freak on again!

Hee hee hee. Point taken!

Who did the art? Delicious!

Dude! A lovely article about the fascinating process of creating swords and no mention of the mythic art of the katana? For shame!

These are flat-out fucking fantastic, in any context.

True dat!

Thanks man. Ha ha, they were psyched! And I do sincerely hope they get exposure. I have had my own students get exposure on this site so I know what it can do. I guess I will just always feel badly for filmmakers who put cash out there on a hope and a prayer.

I guess I am being mean after all! ;)

HODOR!

Oh my god Viggo is perfect. And I always saw Flagg as a demonic variation on Roland, so maybe...2 birds with one stone-ish? In terms of characterization?

I hope you guys get funding! :)

Easy, dude. I was only asking because it takes a lot of time and money to shoot something that you cannot make any money from. And you obviously didn't read my post correctly, because at no point did I say the short was bad. I think it looks great. I just didn't understand why a production company would do something

Yeah, but those people don't also write 'real' fiction. Except for Stephenie Meyer, har har har.

Right, but wouldn't it be still be better to do original material, the way that emerging filmmakers do? Or, at least, material that isn't fan material? That's nothing against fan films, but unless you are copyright-protected, you can't technically use work in your reel that is owned by someone else.
