The animation, voice acting, and overall action/plot had me hooked by episode 3.

With the FFXIV turnaround, Bravely Default, and the love they put into FFX-X2 HD and Kingdom Hearts HD, I thought I sensed a change happening.

I never played Final Fantasies as a kid, so I wasn't really distraught about the FFXIII debacle, but this is great news. More beautiful JRPGs to come!
