What inspector is going to ask and verify that? Unless it’s done incorrectly, a home inspector isn’t going to ask at all. If it is done incorrectly, most home inspectors are unlikely to even notice since most of them are terrible.

Have you met a home inspector? The certification is easier to get than a realtor license. The only know what to look for based on the checklist they carry around.

In Ontario can can do your own work on your own home, but not on someone elses. After the work is complete you get it inspected by the safety authority. The inspection cost is peanuts.

In my home buying experience, the inspector inspects on their own, and doesn’t interact with the seller except for gaining access. They’d look at it and judge if it’s up to code or not, and go from there.

As long as its installed correctly according to code, and no permit was needed, it doesn’t matter who installed it. And no inspector would ask that question... unless it was installed poorly.
