Dodge Slingshot. Chassis and drivetrain from the fantastic Smart Roadster Coupe, which was never brought to America. I’ve done >100 laps of the Ring, and many 100s of km on the autobahn in Roadsters, and it’s a crying shame they were never available here. Superb mid-engine balance, chirpy turbo blow off valve, tight

well Minis are 4 seaters, but yeah I forgot about them. My DD is a BMW i3, which shares a powertrain with the mini EV.

the world needs a sporty, affordable (<$35k?) 2 seater EV. .

Well they somehow went from 10% to 40%. Haven’t seen an explanation why they stopped there.

why half? why not 2/3, or 3/4, 4/5, or 6/6?

No i3 love... oh well I tend to go against the flow :)

37mpg is shit

ha - we’ve got a 2011 Town and Country (125k miles, only non maintance work has bee an ABS module) that I’m looking to replace in a year or 3. Am currently leaning towards the VW EV van, but the plugin Pacific or hybrid Sienna are also candidates. How’d you spec the Sienna? Why’d you chose that over the Pacifica? THX

Congrats!! Seems like a whole Lotta fun for not much cash.   You mentioned smart roadster.. I drove a few of these in Germany when I lived there 2002-2005, including on the ring, and it's a dream to have a couple sent over to TX when they're 25yrs old.  Brilliant little fun machines.  Cheers and best luck with your

wake me up when they remake the Roadster in EV form.  And sell it in America.    It really is a dream...

if Pacifica hybrid was rated for towing I’d already have one.  Instead the trusty old Town and Country soldiers on for pop-up camper towing duties...

How is it better/worse compared to comparably priced EVs? Guess that means Bolt and maybe Ioniq 5?

Gorgeous.

Since nobody is teasing a 2-seat vert (looking at you Mazda Miata, or Toyota MR2), same. Got my BMW i3, now just need an EV hauler.

you say that like it’s a bad thing.  Sliding doors rule!

wait did he actually write “badge prestige”? In the old days that would have called for immediate revocation of one’s Jalopnik credentials. What has this site become...

It’s glorious. 100% Nice Price. But how can you not even mention the stunning, apparently pristine fake wood dashboard overlay???

Then my i3 is a mish mash of good and bad.

290hp and mpg in the low 20s... so almost exactly the same as my 2012 Town and Country. When I’m towing my 3000lb popup camper, still getting ~19mph highway. Sorry Kia, no hybrid, no buy-it.
