I grew up in Central MN, and both of the local places in town - places that had been open since my dad was a kid - did pizza exactly like this. Does that make in Minnesota-style as a marketable brand? Nah. But it’s definitely the style of pizza that’s prevalent in older, non-chain pizza places in the state.

I guess lots of cheese, square cut, and thin crust is the pizza that I don’t remember seeing on menus when I go out of state (well, they have it in Wisconsin too), but I have never heard it called ā€œMinnesota styleā€. I guess I’ve always thought of it as a ā€œbar style pizzaā€.
