I had the same thought after reading the linked article. Successful Broadway actor returns to Broadway? Seems like things are pretty good for him.
Thanks for looking out for my mother's best interest against her wishes! She'll be thrilled to know that a new effective treatment for her chronic debilitating back pain is a bad idea because people might abuse it, which is totally unlike absolutely every other drug in the history of mankind. Clearly our first concern…
Frankly I'm also kind of annoyed at the tone of this article given that the same author just posted yesterday complaining about the inherent paternalism of liquor regulations banning unlimited alcohol.
Two things: 1) it's OxyContin, as in oxycodone continuous release. Not OxyCotin or OxyCotton or anything else. 2) Getting my prescribed medications every month is hard enough without people who have no idea what they're talking about judging people like me. You don't know what my life is like. I have a debilitating…
Fuck this attitude. In Ohio, where we've been restricting access to prescription pain medications, heroin use has skyrocketed, because heroin is a lot cheaper than pain pills on the street. Meanwhile, as a chronic pain patients I am constantly badgered by well-meaning friends, family, doctors, nurses and even pharmacy…
I work for a medical publishing company and had to edit a bunch of studies about this drug after it was approved. It's actually an extended-release version hydrocodone (the same narcotic in Vicodin), meaning that the drug is released into you body slowly, over time, which makes it different from Vicodin and many other…
Eh. As someone with chronic pain who needs to change medications out of fear of too much acetaminophen, can't say I mind. It's not as though the only people who utilize these medications are those abusing them. And yes, there are many similar medications out there. Unfortunately, every pain condition and patient…
It's days like these that I wish there was a medical or scientist person on staff here (or at least on Gawker as a whole that could be shared across all platforms). Even a pharmacy student would be able to shed a lot of light on prescription medication needs.
The counterpoint here is that there are people with chronic illnesses (myself included) who desperately need options for dealing with pain. Obviously there is significant potential for abuse, but those who legitimately need painkillers need to be able to access them. We already jump through enormous hoops to get…
hold up, what? Zohydro aside, you write this like everyone who uses pain pills is a drug addict.
"The pill's intended purpose will be to reduce chronic and severe pain for people suffering from cancer or arthritis..."
Because different people react to different drugs better or worse. Because terminal patients in huge amounts of pain can build resistances to some drugs and so different drugs are needed.
On the other hand, medication like this is could be a very good thing for patients on hospice and in a great deal of pain.
Joan Rivers: fuck you.
I'm assuming that Maude Apatow is someone to do with Judd Apatow but I dunno; the only thing I could think of when seeing these tweets was this
I pray that's a read because the first thing I thought when I heard this news was that the loss of sadly colored, bland dresses is no loss at all.
All the Donna Karan Oscar gowns
Hey Perez. You're the fucking worst.
This is basically a law of physics.
