Yes, but the Speaking Conch will be included.
Yes, but the Speaking Conch will be included.
This is what I’ve been thinking. I’ve felt nothing but pure entertainment reading about this whole mess, but I’m not the biggest fan of the “All those spoiled assholes got what they deserved!” comments.
Agree with your tangent. Jia Tolentino at New Yorker (formerly of Jezebel) talked to someone who paid under $600 per person, all included. That’s a really good deal for what they thought they were getting, and not something you need to be wealthy to afford. The rich-kids-getting-what-they-deserved part of this…
Right? I probably wouldn’t attend this particular festival (as I never even realized it was happening, as I am not the target demographic), but I’m also scratching my head about how people who spent $1k-$3k are somehow worthy of ridicule and should have “known” this was a scam.
That’s what I was thinking. Most of my 4-5 day domestic trips cost about $1k for travel and lodging and I usually end up spending another $750-1k while there, and I am most certainly working class.
Yeah. That’s pretty much how I felt. $1-3K, all inclusive for airfare and accommodations with food too is not 1% at all. It may not be feasible for everyone, but it’s not unheard of or elite by any means.
I’m sure that, at some point, I’ll tire of hearing about this, but not yet. Not even close. Pass the popcorn!
Yeah, any picture where the sentiment is a hearty “FUCK YOU AND ACCEPT YOUR FATE, BREEDERS” is pretty much right up their alley.
Ha. We are the same! I’m terrified about retirement and other people (who can afford to save but aren’t) are just so nonchalant about it. I’m curious (for many reasons) to see the world in 25 years.
I’m dying laughing at all of this. One, I’ve never heard of this Frye Festival until today. Two, I can’t believe people forked over thousands of dollars even after realizing Ja-Rule, Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid were involved in this. All it takes is one C-list has been rapper and two Instagram models to get people…
They thought, All we have to do is promote it with supermodels, get a couple headliners and promise some luxury Instagrammable experience.
Seriously! This is what I’m confused by the most. For this kind of money, these friends could’ve gotten a great suite just about anywhere, had lots of spending money, lots of great food, and great times together.
For $9000, a group of girls could have a freaking great time at Abaco Island in the Bahamas for a WEEK, including plenty of cash for shopping and dining.
Truth. The nonchalant putting $500 on a wrist band, and I’m working 50 hours a week with a master’s degree and sometimes wonder how we’re getting groceries.
“At one point, I was really nervous”
I wouldn’t say that they deserved it. Just because she has money to burn on festivals doesn’t mean she deserves to be scammed. But yes, certainly, a fool and her money are easily parted.
I don’t even know who that is. A quick google search, and I still don’t know who that is.
I feel like a Kardashian / Jenner promotion and no other real details is huge red flag #1.
“You had Emily Ratajkowski and Kendall Jenner promoting it,”
Sure, as long as we are also aware that our own culture has problems when it comes to the treatment of women and minorities. I believe the statistic is that a third of all women killed in the US are killed by an intimate partner. That is a shocking and depressing statistic too.
