So, you don’t think that the fact that the black Oscar-winning actress is naturally less valued than the white Oscar-nominated one—especially when that win occurred in a category they were both nominated for, in the same year, for the same film—is an issue? Okay.

1. The matter-of-fact way he states, “Today was not a good learning day.” Which, in this context, is the equivalent…
I’m a proofreader, and I was just talking to my coworker about how we have days where even the easiest word looks wrong. It’s just typing and human error and the brain going haywire. My thing is cognition/comprehension. If you write like you don’t understand what you’re saying or reply like you didn’t assess what you…
Does the counter check fee go to the airline, or is it a payment for the Airport for shuffling your bag along its hidden network to the correct gate? Maybe they don’t charge you for a gate check because they don’t get charged for it...
Supposedly they charge baggage fees to disencourage the bringing of suitcases in the first place and save on fuel because flights are lighter. This is how they deal with everyone now bringing suitcases as carry-ons and there not being sufficient overhead bins. It’s a bandage on a bandage.
I’ve always been frustrated by this. If they check it before TSA it’s 25/30$, and if they check it at the gate, it’s more hassle and work for employees, it’s still loaded onto the same plane in the same manner, but it’s free?
The only benefit to gate-checking over a carry on is not having to find a place for it in the overhead. Your bag is still with you through security and up to the gate. I suppose it doesn’t have to accompany you to your pre-boarding restroom break.
Does not help if you’re checking a bag due to size reasons, or because that is the only legal way to pack something. (guns, liquids, etc.)
I’m a professional musician, and I frequently travel on smaller planes with an acoustic guitar. Unless it’s a big plane, it will almost never go in the overhead bins, so I usually try for a coat closet slot - if that’s not an option I’ll gladly gate-check my guitar in a flight case. I get to hand-carry it through…
Right? I feel like people need that initial jolt of excitement to make dating feel worth it. I, on the other hand, don’t need that. I’m all for skipping ahead to “comfortable relationship” because it gets all the confusion out of the way. That doesn’t mean that I want to meet someone tomorrow and say “I love you, now…
I hear ya. I stopped dating in my 20’s as well (36 now). I just seriously hated everything about the entire song and dance, from the posturing to the whole first date to the “trying to figure out where we stand” crap. Given the option I’d have just skipped it and gone straight to “comfortable relationship.” Sadly, the…
Right. That’s why there are no unattractive people in relationships, right? They’re all alone.
Totally. Being coupled up isn’t for everyone. Sure, the idea is nice, but when it comes down to it some people just do better alone. I see people who will put up with anything and everything just so they’re not alone and I want to scream. I recently asked someone I know why they’re with the person they’re with. The…
I already have a great therapist. Thank you anyway.
I agree with you. I’m probably way on the other side of the dating spectrum age-wise from most people here. I’m 60 and have been married and divorced twice, the second time ten years ago. I had one long relationship between marriages and a few short ones in the last few years, and after not dating for about four…
Women like to tell everyone they are above all that but they aren’t.
Plenty of unattractive men are happily married or in relationships though, and not just ones that have a lot of money. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in all my years on earth is that the key to people finding you attractive, perhaps even more than looks, is self-confidence.
