I had 4K worth of rims stolen off my car, the cutoff for a misdemeanor in NYC was 2500, the dude got a felony for stealing rims.  He was in shambles because he thought it would be a slap on the wrist but didn’t realize the value of what he stole determined that.  I guess he didn’t think they were worth that much lol.
