I've seen this as a news item all over the place the past couple days. Why does anybody assume that alpha/beta characters won't be wiped if it's not explicitly stated beforehand?

I can't say any specifics, but this is definitely the right decision.
I mean, that's exactly what it is, but that doesn't make it any less awesome.
Because they're typically not well known outside of the communities except when they get plastered on the front page of something like Kotaku, which is usually shortly followed by the project getting shutdown.
So ignore the articles, change your filter, or don't visit the site. I have zero interest in MLP and have never understood the draw, but I can also just not read the articles. Imagine that.
I think it could be really fun to remake the original and gender swap the whole cast, but I'm not sure how successful it would be.
I don't think I ever failed a Lie at 80% or above, that seems pretty unusual. I believe Hack Boost is partly dependent on the security level, but failing it is also fairly inconsequential if everything else is under control.
This quickly became one of my favorite games of the year. Yes, there is some randomness to it, but you will rarely (if ever) fail a 'good' chance. I'm pretty sure this is by design, as the chances typically represent risks rather than true dice rolls. Do you really want to take that 60% chance with your buddy's…
Sorry, I'll stop
I'm primarily interested in the singleplayer, but I have to say that the ME3 multiplayer was actually a lot of fun in the time I spent with it. I know they're doing something similar for ME4, which is nice to hear, even if it's low on my priority list.
What really bothers me is that there will be people that don't know they can just buy the game for cheaper that are going to get swindled by this. Seems like a really dishonest setup by Sony that is going to prey on this for profit.
It is, in fact, comically out of place.
I'm pretty sure it is. Though if that's the route they want to take with it, I don't think I'd be disappointed at all.
Normally I'd say, well it's beta, I wouldn't be too worried. But the massive amount of non-information in those replies is kinda silly. I mean, the service is ludicrously overpriced to begin with.
The biggest recommendation I can give about people that haven't played this game yet is to avoid the marketing like the plague. I'm not sure who's in charge of their marketing or creating the advertisements, but they just casually throw some of the best surprise moments of the game into the commercials.
The train level was Convoy, which was in UT2k4 (not 3 as some are saying). It was one of my favorite FPS maps ever, for sure. Definitely got a strong vibe of that and the Uncharted train level while playing Grimrail in beta. The sound/music is still unfinished, but the gameplay was a lot of fun. Looking forward to…
Well since you offered!
Obviously the beta was only a taster and not representative of the final thing (there were only a couple of actual story mission after all) but I really hope the story gets a far clearer set up. There were times when I just wanted to know what/where the next thing was. Chasing sticks in the ground and seeing what you…
I've honestly never watched much of anything Avatar related, but it's intrigued me, and this looks like a ton of fun. Also looks very Platinum-y, which is great. Platinum games always have the same theme that the better you get at them, the more fun (and fun to watch) they are.
That temple door opening was a legitimate, out loud, "oh holy shit" moment from me. I feel like there's not often a lot of moments in gaming where you feel truly overwhelmed, and this was certainly one of them.
