Are you purposefully obtuse? The entire way of playing they were pushing with 4e was tackling monsters with titanic amounts of HP. There was more emphasis on balancing party roles (tank, healer, dps) than playing what you wanted to play. It also emphasized acquiring specific gear to fill out your "role".

Tactics Ogre and games like it are single player. Most people who play MMOs play with other people. They do things like raids or dungeons and it's just like 4e.
