Slightly. The better solution is to keep the throttle open (left foot brake, or a true anti-lag system). Turbos need exhaust flow (pressure delta)to maintain speed. Proper anti-lag systems do this by using as secondary “throttle” to maintain flow across the turbine

Is it wrong that even after reading the headline, the first though in my head on looking at this picture was NOT “interesting F/A-18”. It was “awesome A-4’s!”.
He very well might be - the length of the course and the number of turns means that it might be a good strategy to leave your butt hanging off the left while you do a gentle right followed by a hard left any number of times in ~38 miles.
