If I’m reading this correctly, the victim did go to the police. The rapist is serving 20 years for the conviction. Their completely valid suit against the university is that they refused counseling services to the victim (likely in hopes of shutting her up so their athletic program wouldn't get more bad press).

university police have always occupied a kind of interesting place in this regard.

Burn it to the ground. It’s surprising enough she got a conviction out of a football player in Texas. Hopefully she gets fuck-you rich off of this and these football factories masquerading as places of learning might think twice before minimizing a victim of the environment they created.

Otherwise, McCraw said, it would come down to a “he said-she said” situation, and the school could not act on it.

I’m guilty of having followed bad and dangerous orders on set in my youth, more times than I’d like to admit. Now that I’m a mom, I look back and think, “I’d kick BabyStu’s ass if he ever agreed to do this stuff.” But the truth is, it’s a competitive business. If you won’t do it, there’s someone else who will. And

Everyone in the industry (below the line, anyway) is still furious about what happened to Sarah Jones. And the continuing attempts to shift blame away from careless and greedy producers who just wanted to “get the shot.”

They temporarily shut down the show with no “we’ll be back up in X amount of days.” It’s more serious than they’re saying.

Filming stunts is incredibly dangerous, even in the best of circumstances. There are safety meetings, rules set up, areas cordoned off and still, accidents happen. It’s one of the reasons crew members have been pushing so hard to have stunt people recognized with an Oscar.

I can’t watch the Twilight Zone movie because of it.

Filmmaking can actually be really dangerous, especially for stuntmen, but also for the crew.

As many precautions as are taken when filming action sequences, when things go wrong they can really go wrong (See Brandon Lee and The Crow).

Before now, I never really recognized the very present danger of action movie shoots.

Sorry, I’m too busy making more than my husband as an engineer to let him be the bread winner for our household. I’m also getting a tubal in a couple weeks so we won’t be having kids ever. We have separate finances and have things divided up equally because WE ARE FUCKING EQUALS. He is not my daddy who needs to

Your comment suggests that we have not come that far at all.

It seems like the young mother in the video could use a seizure alert dog. I hope she can get one without too long a wait.

I just put deodorant between my legs where the rub happens and it saves me.

Oh god. One time I went to this conference in the summertime and made the decision to outfit myself in maxi dresses, but forgot any shorts for underneath. My thighs were literally bloody because we had to walk long distances in the heat. It was beyond rub. It was RAW.

Yes. And it was glorious. Vivi-Anne is deadpan and disinterested in every scene in which she appears.

How about one looks kind of like an angry Liv Tyler, and the other looks like a Russian Hayden Panettiere.

I dunno, NFG. I think going through life feigning pity for lottery winners is bleaker than hitting the lottery. That said, the book and his resume are full of evidence that Mr. Chavez was aiming high even while living out a heyday as a kid. If that’s not clear in the story, that’s my fault. Thanks for your thoughts.
