I don’t know that Maher was deliberately trying to be offensive. Based on his shtick, I’d say he was simply trying to get a quick laugh. He obviously grossly miscalculated, and now he’s apologized. Can we put it to bed yet?

Tell that to all the actors in Quentin Tarantino movies.

Noooo, I hate Al Franken!

Well he is just an entertainer. I’m surprised Maher has apologized for the comment. He’s come to the defense of other entertainers who have said offensive things. He’s mister free speech! (And yes, I know that free speech doesn’t mean free of consequences.)

I figure the people who have actually worked with him would have a more valid perspective about his intent than us spectators. To me, Maher makes a living off of saying what other people are reluctant or afraid to say. He’s since admitted that he went too far. Is his apology enough for people or do they still want him

Well, aren’t you the eloquent spokesperson for a whole race.

You’ve really set yourself up for catastrophic disappointment if you think you can dictate or limit what other people say. Comedians especially are not bound by social taboos.

While I agree that the average white person would be better off not using that word ever, comedians really are a breed apart. They say whatever just to get a reaction out of people. I’m sure they prefer to get laughs and applause, and the groans are just learning experiences for them. It would be interesting to hear

Deftly put! I so wish we could vote the dumb buttholes off the island for good. Why isn’t life like a reality show?!

If you are flagging posts with the hope of getting those comments removed, I don’t understand why you are disagreeing with me. Repeated instances of hateful rhetoric that’s easily found on the TV, radio and internet just ensures the brainwashing effect kicks in for many of the people who frequent those media outlets.

OMG — hearing color is actually a real phenomenon for some people.

The President was just in Saudi Arabia calling for their assistance in blocking militant messaging and recruitment. How is a site that stokes racial hatred any better than Muslim militants? A bunch of advertisers just pulled their ads off Google properties because they were being shown alongside extremist videos.

I might be alone in thinking this, but we ought to start talking about limits to free speech when that speech is hateful BS designed to rile people up. The stuff that’s on sites like Breitbart is a form of pollution and should be regulated as such.

If your loyalties are this iffy, then you are in charge of swabbing the poop deck (no homo.)

I worry that the left is going so all-in on this Russia stuff before anything really concrete materializes. For all we know, Kushner was conspiring with the Russians to orchestrate world peace. We should probably wait for the results of the various probes into the Russia deal before we sing so confidently about the

There’s a war on men— BATTLE STATIONS!

He was radicalized in front of a computer reading Breitbart News.

As far as that memo is concerned, it all depends on the interpretation of the word “hope” the president used. Was Trump saying he wants or expects Comey to drop the case against Flynn? Or was he saying, if at all possible, could Comey see fit to drop the case?

Yikes! I almost forgot that those Russians do not screw around when it comes to dealing with opponents. Okay, now I really mean it: poor James Comey.

Think how queasy in the stomach James Comey must be right now. Poor guy.
