I hope the news gets a hold of this and makes some poor schmuck from corporate do the “I’m sorry dance” and all the field tech get to sit through a shitty powerpoint about cone placement.

It is $2k, it drives, and I don’t get tetanus from looking at it. This would be an acceptable first car or a good winter driver. 

It will get hit by IEDs, and then be up-armored and they will be stuck in MRAPS all over again.

I know about this, and this is the reason I grab that first mug that comes though the filter.

CAFE Standards for trucks are based on the “vehicle footprint”. If improving actual gas mileage is too hard you can just make the foot print bigger without taking too much of a hit to get the same effect.
