What I have learned, particularly from Jezebel, is that if something sounds too outrageous to be true, it probably isn't true. Jezebel frequently fails to include relevant bits of information in certain of its stories, preferring sensationalism instead.

I was about to say something similar but you beat me to it. Jez really desperately needs someone with a legal background (or even a basic understanding of the law) to write these stories.

I second the earlier, "I have an internet crush on you right now." Could not agree with you more.

That is such a cop out and you know it. It doesn't matter what format you are, if you are going to report and write about serious subjects, you do have an obligation to your readers to at least get the basic facts right.

I don't mind that this article was "written" by a blogger because it falls under pop culture, but I agree with you. This isn't really a hidden fact. Actually, if you ever look up sex offender registries, it tells you what the degree of their offense was, which will tell you how long they'll be registered.

Wow, I totally agree with you. News stories are not news stories unless they're written by a trained journalist who has researched the facts. About 80% of the crap we read online now is just a bunch of "gossip" by bloggers. Scary.
