It’s been awhile, so my memory’s a bit hazy, but seem to recall it being largely inoperable before it was retrofitted to its iconic form, and I definitely remember that it was upgraded to ‘harness the potential of newtypes’... by using salvaged parts.

I’ve always thought ‘Matt Perot’ would be terribly clever.

Are you quite sure? I remember them showing it being used before the Platinum days of Rising, and then recall them saying they used the cutting-tech for the final game; seems like it’d be a nightmare to port the code for the cutting to a different engine.

Y’know what it doesn’t do, though? Run at 60FPS. For something that takes up the whole of my peripheral vision this is a problem; brain flat out says NOPE.
