No. I didn't see what the big deal was for years and years, but then I realized that it was an entire studio doing whatever the hell they felt like doing, common sense be damned. And wouldn't you know it? They're really good at what they do.
Mustn't forget the ending to the original Super Mario RPG, which contains not only a fireworks show, but also the freakin' electrical parade! Fireworks linked here, but the rest of the ending is positively charming!
