Agreed. It worked in the circumstances. Now, Anissa showing up at the memorial in that outfit and not drawing any stares, that was more unbelievable.

I was not expecting that much of a ripped-from-the-headlines stuff, and for them to rip a freaking terror attack (the motorist running down an activist in cold blood) and reduce it to a background beat. That was deeply unsettling. So much of the show has been nuanced and respectful (Jeff’s talk with Jennifer for…
Some of this was really great. Seeing BL finally throw down with another superpowered being was a delight, and one of the show’s better action beats. More of this, please.
That opening made today the greatest day I’ve ever known.
The part in Thor’s video that gets me isn’t the lift. He’s strong, I figured that. It’s the fact that he just holds the lift for a bit and nods like “okay, not bad, okay, no great, not bad.”
I dug the serum reveal. It’s a hook that makes me want to know more.
Holy shit you’re right and I need this movie.
Fair point on the missed shot. That said, I loved seeing Tobias finally see Black Lightning again and have a minor freakout about him being alive. It’s weird, the intro to the “previously on” showed a ton of flashback footage we haven’t seen yet including when BL got shot years ago before retiring. I wonder if we’ll…
I want to believe it’s on EArth 38. At the same time that Outsiders comic was a DC comic, with Kobra on the cover. Lady Eve is, in the comics, a part of Kobra. So....this is getting weird.
Regardless of the writing of that subplot, Cress Williams sold the awkward comedy of that scene so well.
I didn’t realize they were comics characters! Okay, cool. I do hope we get some metahumans or proper supervillains here beside Tobias. BL is cool but it’s clear he’s kicking ass with ease. They’ve already established that powers and other heroes exist in this world. Find a way to organically bring in some powered…
She and the creepy henchmen she’s paired with have a weird sibling-like vibe. I was wondering if they were a twisted take on the Wonder twins.
The music has been great, particularly the motown-y sounds Lala listens to.

Avery Brooks would have been the perfect Black Lightning if this was made in the 90s.
I don’t think I’ve seen a single line delivered that well.
Hasn’t he said, multiple times, in a positive tone, that he was working to get the character right because of how much Frank Castle “means” to cops and soldiers?
This is so perfect.
“AS SUN TZU SAID, WHEN YOU ARE NEAR APPEAR FAR. WHEN YOU ARE STRONG APPEAR WEAK. WHEN YOU ARE GORKA APPEAR TO HAVE RESIGNED!”
We Are What We Are (the American remake) is great, but every poster and trailer spoiled it so much. I saw it blind at Sundance and while there was a suspicion of the twist, the lack of confirmation helped sell the tension and unease.
