I have a friend who refuses to talk to me if I'm driving, for safety reasons, it's totally understandable, unfortunately that is virtually the only time I ever remember to call him.

I just call people while I'm sitting in my car in the driveway. I say, "hey, I only have 10 minutes, but I really wanted to catch up with you." It's great, no snooping kids/partners, aural isolation, and ideally, better cell reception.

Unfortunately, kids have absolutely no legal right to determine their time allotment, although only assholes don’t actually at least take their wishes into account when they get older (hellooo asshole ex-husband!). However, I’m pretty sure there’s no legal recourse against the children for having a fall-down-hissy-fit

Honestly, I thought they broke up months ago. I'm pretty sure I read that on Jezebel, in fact.

Yow! Thank you. Just quoting the hack who wrote the book, saying that the crime had been solved, and then not adding in a little *not really*? That could have been handled better! I don’t expect super high journalistic quality here, but a little notice that the blurb they’re quoting is utter bullshit might be helpful.

...and of course there’s that whole “professional” class of employees who don’t get paid for their extra time, even when they DO work all those extra hours! I guess he means that us "professionals" should just go get second jobs to earn the extra $'s so we don't have to live on the dole any more. Wonder how much his

Not to be a dumbass, but how is there a new sequel? Didn't Larsson die in 2004? What?

...and yes, I'm from the south.

Sounds dumb, but Miss America (aka NOT the one owned by Trump) offers scholarships to upper level winners and also ask the contestants actual (or at least the used to) real world questions and allegedly included that in their evaluation. Miss USA has always been exclusively looks based. I know, they're all looks

Brilliant. Good job, Nancy Reagan. (& thanks for the info)

I'm honestly kind of stunned at the well done vs rare/medium rare discussion. I get that the chef is an artist who wants their work appreciated as intended, but they're also professionals doing a service job. You can offer your professional advice, but if the client is intent on doing it their own way and it's not

That was honestly my primary thought on this. I was under the impression they stopped making Quaaludes in the 80's.

Dunno. She’s there to meet the voters not the press. The press is supposed to cover the event, not BE the event.

I’m betting it’s a national park or something (using an American paradigm because I’m not Brit), and arrangements for it were made through a non-local agency. I’m betting the officials who set it up get their asses handed to them (pun intentional).

I don't know about Nashville, but I'm not seeing Mobile throwing the welcome mat out for these tools.

Hahahahahahahahahaaaa! Seriously? She's there to meet voters, but the public is supposed to be mad at her because she doesn't want the press stampeding her (and the voters she's there to meet)? I am seriously not sure AT ALL what the hell the national press does other than bitch about how the national press is treated

That's what I was going to say. Looks like a peplum to me!

There's this old-school reaction to cheating spouses that every publication in America has, which is that they will lose custody of their children because of their scandalous behavior. Duh. Unless you're putting the children in danger with your crazy behavior, you'll still get some share of custody. We cheated-on

At first I thought it was, like, a species identification and that maybe their standard readers really can’t tell the difference between, say a cat and an emu? But then I realized it was the cat’s name, and it was like I was looking into a mirror of myself looking into a mirror of myself looking into a mirror of

Yup, fraternal twins can be genetic, but it has nothing to do with the father's genes. Once again, it's all the mother's fault. (really)
