What I want from Google TV:

This isn't working for me... I'm using W7 and have Boxee and WMC installed. The Hulu integration works, but the Boxee one won't... strange.

Voting from my Jolicloud eeePC 4G (with the 7" screen). The best OS for small netbooks by far.

I'm a big fan of Linux Mint it saves me an hour or so of configuring plain Ubuntu.

@Rask: I just tried out Jolicloud on my eeePC 4G and it works great on there. Jolicloud is a definite contender especially for netbooks.

I wouldn't pay more than half of the paperback price. They can't really fool young people into thinking that selling e-books really costs as much as a dead tree version. There's zero manufacturing and distribution costs. It's a pure profit grab.

I followed your original posts about making a HTPC and I settled on the Acer Aspire Revo 1600 for $200. It works great for XBMC and with a few tweaks it runs Boxee quite well.

This iPad is not a good competitor to any netbooks. The ipad can't multitask and it doesn't do flash. It's just an oversized ipod touch.

None of them are good at ripping TV shows from DVDs very well other than DVD Shrink with Mutishrink or whatever that script is. They're all lacking for sure.

@DeadPenguin: They're both great, Boxee just adds on to XBMC. I've been testing both and I'm personally leaning toward Boxee just for the extra streaming content.

I've never bought anything through Woot yet but I check it every day for the great writing in the descriptions. I hope the user generated descriptions are as good.

I have a netbook (eeepc) that I only use for web-related tasks. It runs Linux and the only apps it runs are Pidgin and Firefox. If Chrome OS can simplify that for me then that's perfect. Or I'll get an ipod touch...

We have a home built in the 1940's in upstate NY and our wood burning fireplace was just a wide open draft for freezing cold air to come in and nice warm air to escape.

That's one of the nicest looking office make overs I've seen. Good job. #workspaces

It looks great. There's still a handful of bugs but all software will suffer from that. If you compare Ubuntu's 4 years of progress vs Microsoft's 8 years of progress between XP and 7 then Ubuntu shows much more promise. #ubuntu

@Tom-LH: Yes, but there is a bug with pulseaudio in VMWare (sound doesn't work). There are work arounds, just wanted to give you a heads up. #ubuntu

@winshape: Or use DVD shrink. Its much faster to just rip a DVD to an ISO (if you have the room) and XBMC can handle that format very well and hardware accelerate playback. #feature

Here's an awesome article from Men's Health where the author went to visit the Tarahumara tribe in Mexico. It's probably very similar to the book that's talked about in the NYT article.
