You left out my two favorites—artificial hip joints (thanks, distracted driver) and insulin pumps (you have no frickin’ idea how great those things are—I can go nearly a week without worrying about where my insulin bottle and syringes are).

All good suggestions, especially the car stuff - blanket and shovel are essentials, as is a spare bottle of washer liquid (only ever use the cheap blue garage forecourt stuff, never the orange fancy stuff like RainX - it has additives that clog up the reservoir level sensor in some cars to give a false reading).
