We asked for this. No, we BEGGED for this. Remember how we all screamed for unbundling? This is unbundling... pay for each content creator’s product separately. Isn’t it beautiful? /s

Lower birth rates are an excellent way to cut carbon emissions, so making fewer humans is a way to save the planet.
It must be the latter because he shows up as an old man at Tony’s funeral, placing him in the same timeline.
This being Hollywood, can we assume that ILM lost a huge amount of money doing this and will be going bankrupt now (like Rhythm & Hues)?
What phones are *not* made in China? If the price of virtually every cellphone rises, then all manufacturers are affected, and the net result means we all pay more, and maybe overall sales drop a bit. But that should affect all the manufacturers that assemble in China (meaning everybody except... Samsung? LG?). Apple…
That exact argument also applies to Delta. The company will always seek to get the best deal possible out of it’s employees, trying to get the most out of them while paying the least. They LIKE the fact that they are an immortal entity with billions to spend on the process while negotiating with individual employees…
Jack Dorsey looks like Tyrion Lannister
Did he say Gavin Belson was part of this? Then it is definitely a MUST to be seen as associated with it.
Maybe the non-white faculty at Stanford recognized this thing as another academic circle-jerk with a vague mandate which would accomplish nothing?
Isn’t this what Wal-Mart does with their dominant position in brick-and-mortar retail? Vendors must sell to Wal-Mart at the price Wal-Mart demands, or they will not carry the item? Not exactly a shocker that Amazon is doing something that is essentially an extension of age old retail practices.
Hmmm... my provider has been prepending “SPAM?” to the caller ID of many junk calls.

Then there is the dreaded text message from a friendly co-worker: “your video is on” as you do something embarrasing in front of the camera.
And by that I mean on purpose to invert the stereotype and because deeply flawed and troubled SF characters are no longer anything new, and would not properly evoke the same feeling of inverted classic SF.
I think part of the subversion of the book was that the protagonists were “Competent Man” type SF heroes. The kind of SF hero that is always white and male. In Lovecraft Country, the smart, resourceful, confident characters are black, and I believe this is on purpose.
Plug for the book: Lovecraft Country is really REALLY good Science Fiction. The fact that it’s a brilliant parable on race is just icing on the cake.
I never have a problem with self checkout. But I agree that the whole purpose is to eliminate workers. Yay, capitalism! /s
EXACTLY! It was a simple solution to the trash problem: “just pile of t up over there, bro! It ain’t Science”, so of course a similar solution should be used for the fire. There’s no WAY that doing something quick and simple could possibly make things worse, and those “experts” who act all fancy are just trying to…
Does anybody else see hints of the Herkimer Battle Jitney in there?
