@FotoPhocus: That's a good point. With Netflix I have to wait a minimum of 48 hours to get my new DVD. I drive right past a Blockbuster on the way to work. I may need to try out their services.

@SherwinMaia: I wouldn't call him a troll, but I certainly would call him selfish. I saw a post of his the other day, and while the site he's using to make these "video comments" is quite interesting in how it works, that doesn't mean I want to re-load the page just to see his face in a bubble in order to hear one

@artfuldodga: Hear, hear! I've never taken a computer to a repair shop in my life. Never needed to because I take good care of my PCs.

@Oranges w/ Cheese: If you're perfectly happy with your OS, have programs you regularly use and are happy with, etc. then why are you looking to upgrade in the first place? Just stick with what you've got. If, however, you were looking to build a new computer, the logical thing to do would be build it for Vista or,

@Phoshi: If you eat it, you no longer have it. That's the point of the saying. ;) You can't do both, you can either eat it and no longer have it, or you can have it, yet not eat it.

"Windows 7 is just a service pack..."

@kd420: That's a horrible comparison. You're using performance as an argument not to spend money, then acting as though cars today cost the same as they did years ago. As cars have gotten better, they've also gotten more expensive, or the price has remained the same. Not to mention how much upkeep you need to do

We're getting together tomorrow for one, though it's scaled back from recent years. No renting out a room at a restaurant, instead it's going to basically be a pot-luck at the boss's place. It works fine because we're a relatively small company, the kind that's can't use layoffs as a way to save money since it'd cut

@godmademud: Considering that OneCare was purchased, and not built from the ground-up by Microsoft, I did give it a try when it first came out. It runs quite well, and I didn't have any actual problems with the service. I also don't tend to use high-risk sites or download and run suspicious files, either, so I

@Cripesonfriday: That's an interesting idea. Very clever! It might not work for everyone, though. For example, when I'm at work, or at home, my phone is sitting on my desk in plain sight. So I would receive a voicemail, then see it ring once and stop.

@mr_dimsum: I have to agree with most of your points. The biggest issue I have with these stores is that a majority do not offer to allow you to download them if you subsequently lose the data, due to a computer crash, DVD becoming scratched or otherwise damaged, etc.

Considering that my income isn't much more than $1,000 a month, I highly doubt that this challenge was geared towards someone like me. Sure, I could just... not pay any of my bills, but that's a surefire way to get kicked out of my home.

Ever since I started working at a print shop I've discovered the benefits of laser over inkjet. We use inkjet printers in-house, but only to print work orders and whatnot. Customer jobs are laser-only due to the massive difference in quality. Not to mention, I used to prove a point with home-made business cards by

@Adam Pash: I have trouble seeing you say that Lifehacker has never condemned Vista when the title of this article is "Can Windows 7 Recover from Vista?" That title alone had me wondering what the point of this article was.

@YashwantLean: Vista did require that the OS be installed. You could not just throw in your old disc and install from that. The upgrade version won't even allow a clean install at all. The only way to get a clean install of Vista with an upgrade key is a strange workaround where you install it with the trial

@Nuclear Moose: For a quick solution, it worked a hell of a lot better than this guide. :P

Just feels like a lot more work than is necessary. Using auto-leveling with some slight adjustment afterward and the Reduce Noise filter, then resizing to the same size you listed, I ended up with quite a bit more detail, less noise, and what appears to be much less washed out.

@The_Last_Skunk: THIS! I would've voted for the Green party 8 years ago except that I couldn't because I wasn't old enough.

@HeffeD: Much agreed, thank you for being a voice of reason in what seems like a sea of paranoia. ;)
