To be fair, the first movie had a different director. (Which is why Catching Fire was so much better-done than Hunger Games.) The first director was fond of cutting things for no clear reason (Madge, Peeta's leg), but this new guy seems much to stick much closer to the book.

The difference is the intent. (Hence why I emphasized "very intentionally" above.) The Holocaust was an intentional act carried out by one group against another. (Well, against several others.) Books like "The Poisonous Mushroom" were given out with the intent of demonizing the Jewish people. This is part of why

You're right, I forgot that we can discuss 1930s government-sponsored anti-Semitic propaganda free of context and without acknowledging the role it played in a genocide. Silly me.

It's also pretty bloody obvious that the objectification of women evident in many children's toys (real though it may be) is in no way equivalent to the systematic murder of 11 million people, including 6 million "poisonous mushrooms." So yes, I would like the author to actually write out her analysis if she wants to

Is sexism in the marketing of children's toys a problem? Yep! Is it the same as the Holocaust and Colonialism? NO. STOP NOW. She didn't even try to make a good argument as to why they're related.

I know, I know. But it's not on Netflix Instant!

If I've managed to do it with Mean Girls and The Matrix, anyone can do it.

Dammit, Burt, why couldn't you have posted just a little sooner so I didn't write my own?! I checked the mainpage and everything!

I knew there was a reason I liked you, Burt.

I don't care what fresh-prince says. A steampunk masquerade ball sounds awesome and I wish I was going to one. Have fun!

IIRC, that's actually supposed to be the fastest way to write. (I do it too, as does my mother.) Printing can take a while because you're picking the pen up at every letter; cursive can take a while because it has a lot of unnecessary loops and curls. Something simple but largely connected makes more sense than either.

Right? He's only a year and a half younger than I am. Not creepy!

21.

Be still, my heart! It's so beautiful. I have a friend who got a yellow one for her birthday last year and I'm horribly jealous. A KitchenAid is a traditional wedding present on my dad's side of the family, but fuck that.

That's really cool. I wish it wasn't so expensive, because my sister would love it.

That's basically my family's Thanksgiving. I had sweet potato casserole with marshmallows for the first time this year when a friend made it. (Though everyone else at dinner apparently had it every year with their families.) My mom made green bean casserole once because my sister and I had never experienced it.

My god, this looks amazing.

The NYT article makes it sound like it's a full graduate program. And given that she would have to choose between moving then and moving a year later and her previous job was as a firefighter, it doesn't seem all that ridiculous. (Side note: My mom moved across the country when she was 8 months pregnant with my

From the NYT article, it sounds like even if NY rules in her favor, CA needs to release their jurisdiction.

I thought the same.
