Some of my best friends are waffles.

Forgive me for giving it pageviews, but I had to look at the TRWD website—it's pretty hilarious. In addition to calling her "flat-chested" in reference to her old headshots (?) and "buxom" now (?), there is also this bit of hyperbolic gold:

<googles for confirmation> Huh. You learn something new every day.

I'll preface this by saying that I know exactly nothing about New York politics or either candidate other than what I've seen here on Jez and what I just Wikipedia-d.

Not relevant, but oh my god:

Unfortunately, the popularity means that there are also more crappy books coming out. I love dystopian fiction and YA fiction (even though I'm no longer a YA), and I read the Hunger Games before it even came out (is that hipster?). But last summer I went on a YA dystopia binge and some of them were downright

From the article:

Yiss. I was just thinking the same—I've already starred more comments on this piece alone than I sometimes do in a day. Well done, all.

Over half of all student debt is held by households whose net worth is under $8,500. Ugh.

No, they're fighting to be able to label themselves geeks. Big difference.

Yeah, this person does this regularly—my last conversation devolved into them calling me a supporter of child rape and using Doctor Who gifs for evil. You deserve points for trying.

Yep, the state of Jefferson (although it hasn't been particularly close to happening since just before WWII). As someone who was raised in Southern Oregon, I'm torn between supporting the idea because it's a totally different world from the northern part of the state and hating it for pretty much the same reason.

Follow-up slogan for Southern Oregon: It's Actually Pretty Nice Here As Long As You Just Like Cheese, Rafting, Or Shakespeare And Don't Feel Too Strongly About Law Enforcement.

Oregon doesn't have any major abortion restrictions (including waiting periods, mandated parental involvement, or limitations on publicly funded abortions), although 23% of Oregonian women live in counties without providers. (Probably because Eastern Oregon is hella empty and also generally pretty conservative.)

I switched over to Feedly just after they announced GR was shutting down. I don't love it, but it definitely does the job.

Even though I have plenty of other things to be doing with my life, I checked out the first two discs of Gilmore Girls Season 1 from the public library yesterday. God, I love that show—it's funny, it's touching, and it did not deserve to wither and die the way it did. Rory Gilmore is a girl after my book-loving,

You do you, Avril, but just know that the rest of us are laughing because it looks like you put your eye makeup on upside down.

I really want to! I did NaNoWriMo for several years in high school but haven't gotten more than a few thousand words in since coming to college, so I'd love to try during the summer. I don't think it's going to happen, though. I already work 40 hrs a week plus a night job that requires me to be

Poll taxes? The fuck?

That's rough. I'm a student assistant in a small office and am often in a similar position—which is why I'm usually on Groupthink all day—but my boss (not the person who actually pays me, but the person who gives me things to do) knows that I'm saving money to go abroad and wants me to be able to work as many hours
