I think the GT500 was supposed to be a short run car too. So was the Raptor. Actually, all SVT vehicles (of which the Boss 302 was not one) are supposed to be exclusive for Ford. But when Ford tastes money, they go after it.

the GT500 is faster around more tracks than the ZL1, but both cars will suffer heat soak after a few laps which is why the Boss 302 and Z/28 are naturally aspirated. Track cars should be N/A or turbocharged with big, beefy intercoolers.
