Except that the bank is too greedy and tends to force you to sign unfair deals that give them a much bigger cut than they deserve, even after the debt is paid off, along with full control of your creations, and sometimes even your company.

"In his first breath, he says this model isn't for everyone and it won't work for devs without fanbases, despite evidence to the contrary. THEN he cries 'the traditional system is broken!'. THEN WHAT SYSTEM DO YOU SUGGEST, DARRY BOY?!"
It's still a tiny amount compared to the cost of producing a modern, AAA video game. So all a larger amount means is a greater quality final product, and more platforms for release.
Didn't Platinum Games also tell you guys they were not working on Rising? :p
They haven't officially confirmed a Mac version, but he replied on twitter to someone asking for one "definitely!" after they had surpassed the goal, so I think the chances are pretty high there will be a Mac version. You can always wait a few days and see if they officially announce it, the kickstarter won't end…
Dude, $35k for a picture of Ron Gilbert smiling is about as high as value-for-your-money gets.
Tim Schafer getting a game out there via traditional publishers is not impossible indeed. The problem is Tim Schafer getting the game he wants to make out there via traditional publishers. It's basically impossible. Thus why this kickstarter was absolutely necessary.
Yes, and no. He donated $10k, but he didn't want to take the only available "fly and meet the team" spot, so he did it while selecting a lower reward(the painting I think). So he is not that particular $10k donor. Dracogen also donated $10k the same way, to avoid taking that spot. It's all on twitter. :p
But this one is the gritty futuristic first person shooter remake.
Obviously if such a mod was made, it would center around playing in third person. I think the only benefit of first person in skyrim is being able to pick up things and move them around much easier. So in my mind, having this mod you would do all the fighting in third person, and switch to first person whenever you…
I used to be a messiah, but then I took a lance to the side.
Monster Hunter combat in skyrim would be awesome, but my vote is on Demon's Souls/Dark Souls combat, which I feel is a much better fit.
A bit late, but I found the actual stream: [www.gamespot.com]
Is that today? Am I missing something? All I see is an announcement video...
The ones that fly are the WORST. It's like they actually target you when they fly! D:
And it only took them about a year to actually start communicating with their customers about this? Impressive!
Oh goodness, that evil-doer notch is planning to *gasp* offer the funding no one else is willing to offer to Tim Schafer, so that a sequel to a great game gets done, with no intent to get involved in the actual development process??!? THE NERVE ON THAT GUY.
Oh goodness, potches is not interested!
You're way too cynical, guy. Let people have fun when they do awesome things.
Like Vecha said, it's still beneficial to Sony as they get that small fee, versus not getting anything from a used sale.
