Dread Nation was super fun, but I wish there was a sequal. I felt like it ended abruptly.

You got me. I didn’t read Dirt Bag thoroughly enough.
Is kissing even hooking up, now?
Or, you know, real life. Some people are notoriously gross and just because some of those people are women doesn’t mean they get a pass.
I honestly do not understand how the Gaye family won the case. This seems like an egregious example of a judge ruling on an issue outside their area of legal expertise (though how that happened, I also don’t understand).
There are really two categories:
I do 90% of my professional communications online (I work remotely) so, for me at least, the rules of engagement don’t vary between “the internet” and not.
God, the British press is so ruthless.
Yeesh. If someone invited me to a wedding without my spouse, I’d definitely decline. Weddings involve sitting at tables with people you may or may not get along with and often have dancing. I am NOT about to try dining and dancing with new people without spousal backup.
Maybe. But on the flip side, it’s a little over the top to try to make a big point about comparing kids to pets when, duh, everyone knows kids ≠ puppies. The original comparison was obviously meant to make a point about how people get blind spots around what they love, which I think we can all agree happens.
You realize that the millennial generation is definitely in full-on, kids-having throttle, right? I’m 36 and a millennial. 1983, baby. And yeah, many (most, I think) everyone I know my age has a kid or two. I even know one with FIVE, God bless her Italian Catholic soul.
Thank you!
Mental illness can kill, and does, every day. But since you’re drawing a line in the imaginary sand between physical and mental conditions, let’s put it this way: Would it be legal for corrections officers to deny a schizophrenic patient their prescription? Unequivocally no.
Gender Dysphoria in transgender people is a condition which is treated by correcting false gender markers and providing them the means to identify with their correct gender (aka a transman is a MAN, a transwoman is a WOMAN).
This makes my blood fucking boil. It’s just one more example of corrections workers thinking they get to act as judge and jury for people, despite the fact that that’s not their role.
PS: before anyone comes at me with “Ho ho I hope you never need the police” … same.
People are going to think this is a hot take, but it’s not: police departments are sexist, racist draconian hellscapes that systemically rob both officers and criminals of their humanity. There are no good police departments because there are no police departments that don’t encourage an ‘us vs them’ mentality. An…
Thanks for answering and interacting with the commenters on a tough topic. I think as a longtime reader I’m jaded by past experiences where Jezebel/Gawker staff have gone to bat for undeserving writers they know. It’s good to know that’s not happening this time.
I think Prachi did a good job overall with this piece in a vacuum, but it’s definitely a post critiquing the bad article, not the bad article’s writer. As many people have noticed, this post even makes a point of calling Smith’s editors out... which while correct isn’t really the norm for Jez in callout posts... With…
That update has some curious language. “As a practice”? What an interesting way to sort of deny the tequila allegation.
