I find it fascinating that you interpret the Roller storyline as having been played for laughs. Was there an element of Florida-esque absurdity? Clearly, yes — on par with the rest of the show. But that storyline is no more absurd than any of the hundreds of thousands of others where women are kidnapped and sexually…

My husband works for a winery and argon gas is how they preserve open bottles in their tasting room. Bottles still only go about two days open, but the argon helps preserve between pourings.

“She dresses conservatively in everything but color” = she dresses conservatively in every way EXCEPT color. The ‘but’ here means “except” so it implies that she wears colors which are not conservative, AKA bright and vibrant.
