FLULA! And what do you mean massacre?! That was awesome.

I don't want to link pile-on, but if you type in "50 Shades of Grey + abuse" on google tons of articles come up, and they're not just written by regular people on their wordpress blogs. Here are a few.

I actually don't agree with a lot of the articles Jezebel posts, so no, that's not why I'm here.

Buddy, take it easy. You called another commenter a cunt for an innocuous opinion on another article. You're obviously just here because you have a problem with women. Go back to your reddit thread and cry to someone who cares.

WINNER.

Exactly. I also hate it because it quickly devolves into crisis olympics, where people are competing over who has it worse.

I don't think it's never helpful, but most of the time it's used to dismiss something just because it's not the worst thing ever.

"My employer asked about my fertility plans"
- "Well, at least you're not a victim of FGM"

What? NOOOOO. I AM NOT PREPARED.

Got it, thanks for clarifying!

I'm not sure why that needed to be clarified. I thought when people resign, they usually don't get severance - isn't severance typically reserved for those laid off?

Now playing

Nope. That's never going to compete with this. She took some liberties with the phrasing, but that's a tiny modification in comparison.

It's a two-minute song. People can hold their attention (or at least pretend to) for two minutes. The vocal trills just seem like showboating, which isn't what a national anthem should be about. And just to be clear so I'm not accused of outrageous patriotism, I'm not American, I just think this way about all national

I'm not sure that's true. His voice will certainly drop, but he doesn't have a particularly thin or high voice, so even if the range of his voice changes, the quality should stay in tact.

Agreed. He did a good job for a 12 year old, but those details bug me as well. Also, am I the only one that absolutely HATES improvised vocal slides during national anthems? When you're singing at a performance, you do you, but I think it's a little iffy when it's a national anthem. Maybe it's just my classical

Yeah, I see what you're saying. It seems I've come off as is I'm defending communist states as the greatest defenders of women's rights, which of course is not the case. But in a lot of cases they did treat women more equally (at least in terms of work, as is the focus in this article), and that did have huge

Yes, that is the case, but the a lot of countries also used women in the workforce out of necessity during WWII, and it certainly did make an impact in terms of kickstarting other forms of gender equality post-war.

They weren't paragons of gender equality, but in a lot of cases they were more equitable than a lot of the "good" "democratic" states.

That part of the world? Communism was a threat in Turkey in late 1940s, if I'm not mistaken, but it wasn't behind the Iron Curtain or anything.

I love how he tries to drive his point home by saying treating men and women equally is "communist." Dude, that's one of the things communism got right. Also, is this still the 1960s were communist is a bad word?

Agreed, it's disgusting.

Therefore: Can your country please adopt me? I promise I'll be good. I already watch Danish TV/film! ;)
