The thing is, I don't think it is a rejection of modern medicine. (In Canada), midwives study for four years (this is typically on top of a bachelors in another field), and they do carry a lot of standard birthing equipment with them. Yes, in extreme cases you do lose precious time, but you could say that for almost

Of course there are still risks with home birth, but that's up to the parent to determine what risks are reasonable and which aren't, isn't it? It's like cases where women decide whether or not to have emergency c-sections or not. And of course there are some unforeseen circumstances that can be deadly (a uterine

Fair enough. I just read "home births" and wanted to make that point. I'm a little defensive because a lot of people do think home births are irresponsible, even though (because midwives are careful about assessing high-risk patients), they have great outcomes. I get very defensive!

Just to be clear though, home birth doesn't necessarily mean unassisted. There are lots of countries (not the US), where midwives are more common, and they take on home births. Midwives are usually super vigilant about only taking home births when risk factors are relatively low, so let's not shit on all home births.

Yeah, I feel like how much you do or don't like it is firstly tied to your experience with it (so many people are clueless and just try to stick it right in), as well as physiological factors. I'm one of those people who can orgasm with penetration alone, whereas I know other people can't, so I'm wondering if there's

Because it feels amazing. Maybe the taboo element plays into it as well, but it does also feel great.

When my boyfriend proposed it, I wanted to do it for him, and was curious enough to give it a go. Now I love it. Really and truly. Don't knock it till you try it.

Thank you! From a lot of these comments, people have never had/ been with a tantrum-prone child. Some kids are calmer than others, but having seen families with different types of kids, it's not always up to the parenting.

Thank you! I've also seen kids who are, maybe 2-3 (so not that little anymore) have full-body tantrums where they wiggle and kick and punch. You can't physically remove a child in that state, and trying to move/shush them usually makes it worse. It sucks, and trust me, the parent is already fucking humiliated, but

Even though chronologically the Jews do come first BUT SHUT UP, JUST KIDDING.

And who could say no to that?

Poor tipping is a huge red flag and a major turnoff for me. I've had to tip extra before because a guy has stiffed our waiter. It's so gross.

Has RBG seen this yet? Someone email her, stat!

Right? Get a blog so people can not read your bs there.

The problem is, this comparison won't change any minds, because Denmark is publicly and unabashedly socialist. And we all know how the US (corporations in particular) feel about socialism. Even a whisper of it is unacceptable.

Sorry, the Catholic Church hasn't taken the old testament literally for a really very long time. I've always been told by priests that the story of Creation is meant to show that God created everything, not that the world was literally created in seven days. You're thinking about Protestant fundamentalists.

This is not a big deal. Please stop acting like the Catholic Church promotes creationism. The Church has tried to separate theology and science to avoid this kind of thing, and his predecessors such as Pius XII and John Paul II already said that evolution is a sound theory, and doesn't contradict Catholic teaching.

You just missed the part where the sneeze-laden food gets into an open wound or mucous membrane. I'm sure you'll figure out a clever way of putting that in.

She made out with Harper?

A friend of mine was evicted by her landlady (who is a doctor, no less), because she found out the friend had been in Somalia recently. Somalia. Oh, and we live in central Europe, so we're way closer to Liberia than Somalia is. Fucking people.
