Oh yeah, I get that. That is what kept me away from them. Always felt like I was eating slugs (I still dont like mushrooms on a burger for this reason). But the texture is very dependent on the method of prep and the type of mushroom. Same with the taste. 

I too once hated mushrooms, but you should really given them another chance (by someone who knows what they are doing), because you are missing out on a lot of wildly good food out there.

Focusing too much on the victims often just has the effect of shielding police and prosecutors who royally fucked up most of these cases. Nothing will ever change if they arent held accountable, and the blame for why these cases went unsolved (at best) for so long is laid entirely at their feet.
